According to the cantonal office of the statistics, in ten years the value of the Swiss franc really appreciated with regard to both world reference currencies (dollar and euro). For a long time the exchange rates of euro and Swiss franc remained close; the euro so stayed in a range included between 1.46 CHF and 1.67 CHF from January, 2001 till December, 2009. The jet d´eau (water jet), with its height of 140 meters has been in the bay of Geneva for 120 years. In 1891, during the 600 years of Swiss Confederation, the Federal Council decided to create the water jet at the end of the pier in the heart of the harbour. Biggest Flower in the World Exposed in Switzerland

Nicknamed the Titan’s penis the largest flower in the world should flourish tomorrow at the Botanical Garden in Basel. This plant has a length of 3 meters and a circumference of 1.5 meters and is originally from the jungle of Sumatra in Indonesia. Its flowering is rare and brief (72 hours) and the curious may attend tomorrow at the University of Basel. This show has been in Switzerland for 75 years and attracts about 20,000 visitors. After waiting for six months, the federal court has given the green light for the project AquaEcopôle: a living museum dedicated to water, a 3 star hotel with 131 rooms, a restaurant, a clinic and a store.
